Walk for Peace

Wilton Manors Elementary Walk for Peace a Success

On Saturday, November 7th, many people from the school and community participated in the fourth annual Walk for Peace.  The walk is a result of our Passport to Peace program.  The Passport to Peace is an integral part of our international magnet program where students work monthly on their Attitudes and Profiles (character traits aligned with the District).  Each month, an Attitude becomes part of the school-wide focus.  Using their passports, each child shares a personal experience that demonstrates the Attitude.  At the end of the school year, each child’s passport is reviewed to determine if he or she has successfully demonstrated all of the Attitudes.  Students who have completed their passport receive a stamp signifying that they are on their way to becoming good global citizens.

The Walk for Peace celebrates the students’ accomplishments which promote harmony within our diverse school community.  The money collected will be used to further promote peace and tolerance activities for the students and to help needy families during the holidays and throughout the year.  It was a wonderful opportunity for the entire Wilton Manors school family and community to come together for a common purpose.  We would like to thank Mayor Gary Resnick and Ronald McDonald for leading our walk . We would also like to thank Mayor Resnick for a generous contribution to help our school purchase new batteries for our laptop computers!
