I would like to welcome each of our families to Wilton Manors Elementary School. We are delighted to have you join us in a journey towards high achievement and international mindedness. We have outstanding programs and faculty members to enhance the learning process for all students and I look forward to working with each of you to provide an exceptional education for your child as well as personalized service for your family with a goal of exceeding your expectations.
Part of understanding how I can help your family is to provide you with some information about my professional experiences. I received my Bachelors Degree from Florida State University in Elementary Education in 1991. Immediately following my graduation, I secured employment with Palm Beach County public school as a teacher’s assistant in the Head Start Program. Beginning in the fall of 1992, I was hired by Broward County Public Schools as a second grade teacher at Hallandale Elementary. After serving as a second grade teacher for a couple of years, I was elected as a grade level chairperson. While teaching, I began my Masters Degree at NOVA Southeastern University in Educational Leadership. I graduated from NOVA in 1997and went on to teach fourth grade. Shortly thereafter I served the school as a Technology and Curriculum Specialist under the amazing tutelage of the principal, Sharon Ludwig.
In the fall of 1998, I was promoted to assistant principal at Country Isles Elementary where I served under two outstanding principals who served as my mentors for a period of six years. In the fall of 2001, I was selected as a principal intern in a new and exciting, technology based individualized principal preparation program. And, in the fall of 2002, I was promoted to the principal position at Westwood Heights Elementary. While at Westwood, I was able to work with a dynamic faculty and the wider community. In collaboration, we significantly raised the achievement at the school, improved the school environment and enhanced the educational programs and learning experience for students.
In the fall of 2005, I was appointed as principal at Wilton Manors Elementary. I have truly enjoyed collaborating with the outstanding faculty, staff, students and community at our school to achieve many accolades for our school. These accolades include: International Baccalaurate Authorization, recognition as a National School of Character and a State School of Character, Recipient of a $500,000 21st Century Learning Grant, Golden School Award Winner, Five Star School Award Winner, and several other accolades.
I am passionate about reading, education, and the practical application of brain research in the classroom. I am also an avid reader of educational and leadership books and journals.
The education of students is of paramount importance and I look forward to meeting you so that we can get to know each other personally. You will find that we have a hardworking and committed staff and will do our best to ensure an exceptional experience for you and your family.
